Government purchases U.S. Grand Prix equipment for military

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nine machines used to move disabled Formula One cars at the U.S. Grand Prix have been sold to the government for delivery to the U.S. military in Iraq.

The JCB loadalls, which can lift up to 8,000 pounds and are used in farming and construction, loaded disabled F1 cars onto flatbed trucks during the June 17 race, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway said Tuesday.

They will be taken to Savannah, Ga., and shipped to Camp Arifjan in Kuwait before their delivery to the troops in Iraq, the Speedway said.

Loadalls used in the USGP normally are distributed to JCB dealers for sale to civilian customers.
