CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR presents the first annual TOYOTA TEXAS BASS CLASSIC at Lake Fork in East Texas on Sunday, May 13 (3:00-4:00 PM, ET; taped 4/12-15) on the CBS Television Network. The TEXAS BASS CLASSIC awarded a combined total of $1 million in prize money and contributed to the community, as well as the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The tournament grouped 160 Professional Anglers, including Terry Scroggins, Chris Daves, James Niggemeyer and Frank Ippoliti, into teams of four to compete in a reinvented bass fishing tournament. The event combined the conservation aspects of Lake Fork’s slot limits with certified observers, permitting anglers to weigh fish normally not allowed on a slot-limit lake with on-the-water scales so they could release the fish. The Big Bass Award went to angler John Sappington for his biggest tournament catch, weighing in at 11 pounds and 2 ounces. Jeff Medders and Shaw Grigsby provide commentary for CBS Sports. CBS Sports’ Bryan Lilley serves as coordinating producer.
