SBJ Survey Says 72% of Readers Prefer CBS’s Nick Faldo over Johnny Miller
Jeff Maggert defends his title this week against many of the world’s top-ranked players preparing for next week’s U.S. Open, including reigning U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Padraig Harrington and Charles Howell III. The STANFORD ST. JUDE CHAMPIONSHIP field also includes Stuart Appleby, Jose Maria Olazabal, Sean O’Hair, Chris DiMarco, Scott Verplank, Bernhard Langer, Mark Calcavecchia, John Daly, Fred Funk, Tim Herron, Tom Pernice Jr., and past winners Justin Leonard, David Toms, Len Mattiace, Bob Estes, Ted Tryba, Jim Gallahger Jr. and Dicky Pride.
CBS Sports will cover all the action from the TPC at Southwind in Memphis, Tenn., with third-and final-round coverage of the Stanford St. Jude Championship on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network. Verne Lundquist and David Feherty provide commentary and analysis from the 18th tower. Peter Oosterhuis calls the action at the 17th hole and Ian Baker-Finch at the 16th hole. Peter Kostis and Bobby Clampett serve as on-course reporters.

Results from a recent Sports Business Journal/Sports Business Daily poll (May 21-28) asking for readers’ thoughts on sports and pop culture revealed 72% of the respondents preferred CBS Sports’ lead analyst Nick Faldo over Johnny Miller. In addition, in Sports Illustrated’s (May 8) sixth annual PGA TOUR Player Survey, Faldo was recognized as the players favorite (82% to Miller’s 18%). And, Golf Digest’s (Feb. 2007) TV Golf Survey named CBS Sports’ Faldo, Jim Nantz, Gary McCord and David Feherty as four of the top five golf announcers, with Feherty at No. 1.
