CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR WAVES CHECKERED FLAG ON AMERICAN LeMANS RACING SERIES BROADCAST SCHEDULE ON SUNDAY
CBS Sports broadcasts the last American LeMans race on its schedule with the ACURA SPORTS CAR CHALLENGE OF MID-OHIO on Sunday, July 22 (2:00-4:00 PM, ET; taped 7/21) from Lexington, Ohio. This will be the sixth running of the American LeMans Series at the scenic Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The race will feature sleek LeMans Prototypes battling thundering muscle cars for both overall and class titles. The freshly repaved surface at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was the site of a historic 1-2 overall finish for Penske Racing in 2006. The event weekend will feature some of the fastest sports cars in the world with elite automotive manufacturers such as Acura, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Aston Martin, Corvette and others competing for top honors. CBS SPORTS PEDALS SECOND LEG OF COVERAGE OF 2007 “TOUR DE FRANCE” ON SUNDAY
CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR features the second leg of its three one-hour broadcasts of the TOUR DE FRANCE on Sunday, July 22 (1:00-2:00 PM, ET; taped). Graig Hummer joins CBS Sports’ TOUR DE FRANCE announce team along with “the voice of cycling” analyst Phil Liggett, who is working his 35th consecutive year on Tour television coverage, and industry veteran and former pro rider of seven Tours, Paul Sherwen, in calling the action. CBS Sports once again partners with Versus to broadcast the 2007 TOUR DE FRANCE. Vic Frank serves as producer of CBS Sports’ coverage. Production support will be provided by Versus.
VIRGINIA DERBY’S GRAND SLAM OF GRASS FEATURED ON CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR ON SATURDAY
CBS Sports broadcasts the VIRGINIA DERBY on Saturday, July 21 (5:00–6:00 PM, ET) live from Colonial Downs in New Kent, Virginia. This is the 10th year for the Virginia Derby. The $1 million Virginia Derby is the main event at Colonial Downs. In the last four years, this event has produced six Grade I winners, a turf champion and a Breeders’ Cup Mile winner. Last year the event was won by Peter Vesco’s horse, Go Between. Vesco became the first owner to have won three Virginia Derby races at Colonial Downs. Laffit Pincay, Caton Bredar, Jay Privman, and Millie Ball cover all the action for CBS Sports. Chris Svendsen serves as producer and Bob Fishman directs.
