CBS Sports to broadcast Jim Furyk's Canadian Open title defense

No. 3-WORLD RANKED JIM FURYK DEFENDS “CANADIAN OPEN Presented by FRANKLIN TEMPLETON” TITLE ON CBS SPORTS THIS WEEKEND, JULY 28-29

No. 3-world ranked Jim Furyk returns to Canada to defend his 2006 victory at the CANADIAN OPEN Presented by FRANKLIN TEMPLETON as the tournament moves to the Davis Love III re-designed North Course at Angus Glen Golf Course just outside Toronto in Markham, Ontario, this July. CBS Sports covers all the action at Canada’s national open, broadcasting the third and final rounds on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.

Bill Macatee will anchor CBS Sports’ coverage of the Canadian Open from the 18th hole tower this weekend alongside David Feherty. Peter Oosterhuis, who won the 1981 Canadian Open, calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole and Ian Baker-Finch at the 15th hole. Peter Kostis and Bobby Clampett serve as on-course reporters.

Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Steve Milton directs. Tony Petitti is Executive Vice President and Executive Producer, CBS Sports.

Last year, Furyk became the 11th American to win the Canadian Open in the last 12 years. Only one non-American player, Vijay Singh in 2004, has won this tournament since 1995. Since the inaugural event in 1904, the Canadian Open has only been played at Angus Glen once (2002). Furyk, currently sixth in the FedExCup standings, takes on a field that includes Canada’s only major championship winner Mike Weir (2003 Masters®), No. 7-world ranked Singh, Chris DiMarco, Stephen Ames, Steve Elkington, Mark Calcavecchia, Sean O’Hair, Steve Flesch, Justin Leonard, Tom Pernice, Jr., Shigeki Maruyama, Jeff Sluman, Brad Faxon, Larry Mize, John Rollins and John Daly.

PGA OF AMERICA SPECIAL: ROAD TO THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP BROADCAST BEFORE CANADIAN OPEN ON SUNDAY, JULY 29

As CBS Sports prepares to broadcast golf’s final major of the year, the 89th PGA Championship, CBS will feature a PGA OF AMERICA SPECIAL: ROAD TO THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP on Sunday, July 29 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET). More than 300 club and teaching professionals competed in the 2007 PGA Professional National Championship and only the top 20 finishers earned a spot in the PGA Championship. Bill Macatee recaps the tournament and introduces us to the 20 players who will compete at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., beginning August 9. Chris Svendsen is coordinating producer.
