CBS Sports takes center court with broadcast of 2007 U.S. Open tennis championships

 

CBS SPORTS TAKES CENTER COURT WITH BROADCAST OF 2007 U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

CBS Sports’ Coverage Features Maria Sharapova-Agnieszka Radwanska; Andy Roddick-Thomas Johansson and Roger Federer-John Isner

CBS Sports begins its 40th year covering THE U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS on Saturday, Sept. 1 (11:00 AM-6:00 PM, ET) with men’s and women’s third-round action. Headlining CBS Sports’ coverage are the defending champions as No. 2-seeded Maria Sharapova takes on Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 1-seeded Roger Federer plays American John Isner. American and No. 5-seeded Andy Roddick goes up against Thomas Johansson.

Young American Donald Young also will be featured on Saturday as he takes on Feliciano Lopez and former U.S. Open Champion Martina Hingis take the court against Victoria Azarenka.

Lead play-by-play announcer Dick Enberg will be joined by expert analysts Mary Carillo and John McEnroe in the booth for the seventh consecutive year. Bill Macatee also will call tennis action for CBS Sports, with Patrick McEnroe as analyst. Mary Joe Fernandez serves as reporter. Ian Eagle serves as contributor.

During weekend coverage CBS Sports sits with the men’s No. 1-ranked player, Roger Federer. Federer discusses Pete Sampras, his off court charity work and what it will take for him to become the best player of all time. Jason Ross produces. Also featured are conversations with Venus and Serena Williams. Sarah Rinaldi produces.

Bob Mansbach serves as coordinating producer of CBS Sports’ live coverage of tennis’ final grand slam of the year. Mansbach, David Winner and Ken Mack produce. Lead director Bob Fishman will direct along with Cathy Barreto.

Monday, Sept. 3: 11:00 AM-6:00 PM, ET (men’s/women’s fourth round singles)

Friday, Sept. 7: 12:30-6:00 PM, ET (men’s doubles final/women’s semi-finals)

Saturday, Sept. 8: 12:00 NOON-6:00 PM ET (men’s semi-finals) and 8:00-10:00 PM, ET (women’s singles final)
