CBS producer to receive Lifetime Achievement Award

 

Legendary CBS Sports producer Frank Chirkinian to be honored with 2007 Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award

Jim Nantz, James Brown, Phil Simms and Gary Danielson lead CBS Sports' 17 nominations for 2007 Sports Emmy Awards

CBS Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLI and U.S. Open Tennis Championships garner multiple nominations to highlight network's other nominations

The Super Bowl Today studio show also earns multiple nods

The NFL Today, Golf on CBS, The AFC Championship Game and Tour de France get nominated; and CBSSports.com earns nomination

Legendary CBS Sports producer Frank Chirkinian, often referred to as the "Father of Televised Golf," and winner of four Emmy Awards, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 29th Annual Sports Emmy Awards on April 28.

Jim Nantz, James Brown, Phil Simms and Gary Danielson lead the list of CBS Sports' 17 nominations for the 2007 Sports Emmy Awards. Nantz earned a nomination in the category of Outstanding Sports Personality -- Play-by-Play, while Brown's nomination is for Outstanding Sports Personality -- Studio Host, and Simms and Danielson earned nods for Outstanding Sports Personality -- Sports Event Analyst.

Among the other nominations for CBS Sports include multiple nominations for the Network's coverage of Super Bowl XLI (Indianapolis-Chicago) for Outstanding Live Sports Special, Outstanding Open/Tease and Outstanding Editing. The Network's Super Bowl XLI pre-game show, The Super Bowl Today, garnered two nominations in the category of Outstanding Long Feature (Bill Walsh and Hines Ward). CBS Sports' coverage of the 2007 U.S. Open Tennis Championships also earned multiple nominations, one for Outstanding Must Composition/Direction/Lyrics (U.S. Open Tennis Championship Tease) and the other for Outstanding Post Produced Audio/Sound.

CBS Sports also earned nominations for The NFL on CBS for Outstanding Live Sports Special (New England-Indianapolis -- AFC Championship game); The NFL Today for Outstanding Technical Team Studio; Outstanding Live Event Turnaround (Tour de France); and two for The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award (Gof on CBS for its use of "SwingVision"; and Jim Nantz Remembers Augusta: The 1960 Masters for Color Restoration and Colorization). Rounding out the Network's nominations is CBSSports.com for Outstanding New Approaches -- Coverage (Amen Corner Live).
