THE GOOD NEWS
The Zips return an excellent core of young perimeter players for next season. Nick Dials (148 assists) did an admirable job, but Akron should have a true point guard next season. Coach Keith Dambrot sees Brett McKnight as the team's leading scorer and an offensive force.

THE BAD NEWS
There may be suitors chasing Dambrot, after three straight 20-win seasons. He has talked about Akron being home and staying long term since Day One. It's unlikely Akron can replace the inside impact of Jeremiah Wood (14.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg). His scoring and passing ability in the post enabled the team's 3-point attack to flourish.

KEY RETURNERS
Senior SF Nate Linhart (8.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg) will keep the team grounded. Brett McKnight (4.0 ppg) will be a sophomore wing player with unlimited offensive potential, according to Dambrot. The coaching staff is anxious to see redshirt freshman PG Ronnie Steward (hip injury) at 100 percent in game situations.

ROSTER REPORT

--The point guard job will be up for grabs, with sophomore Steve McNees, junior Darryl Roberts, and redshirt freshman Ronnie Steward all in the hunt.

--Look for Brett McKnight to gain the lion's share of minutes at off-guard, and for Linhart to continue as the primary small forward. Sophomore C Mike Bardo gained valuable minutes when Wood was recovering from minor surgery. Junior Chris McKnight is the logical starter at power forward.
