Great Danes report: Getting inside
It has been quite a run for Albany. The Great Danes won just five games in 2003-2004, but coach Will Brown got things turned around, energizing the program with back-to-back NCAA appearances the last two years. But Albany's run ended at the hands of Boston University, a team it had beaten twice in the regular season. The margin of error was simply too small for the offensively challenged Great Danes, and not just in the overtime loss to the Terriers. Albany ranked in the middle of the pack in most offensive categories and never seemed to put everything together in one game. Only two players averaged in double-digits on the season. Still, for seniors like Jon Iati, it was quite a run. "We gave everything we had," Iati said. "You want to end your career in the NCAAs, but there was no storybook ending. I am proud of all the things we have done here and the two championships." Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. | ||||||||||||
