BYU's thrill-ride 2007-08 season ended, appropriately enough, just down the road from Disneyland.

The Cougars couldn't shake their postseason hex, losing their second straight Mountain West championship game and their sixth straight first-round NCAA Tournament contest. But before anyone slaps a "disappointment" label on a 27-win season, they should recall that this program was 9-21 just three years ago.

Since taking over before the 2005-06 season, head coach Dave Rose has led Brigham Young to three straight 20-win seasons and back-to-back outright regular-season league titles and back-to-back NCAA tourneys. The Cougars are 72-26 under Rose, including a 39-9 record in Mountain West play and a 47-1 record at the Marriott Center.

Highlights from 2007-08 included a school-record 25 regular-season wins and an upset of then-No. 6 Louisville, the Cougars' highest-ranked victim since a win against No. 2 St. Joseph's on Dec. 21, 1965. They led the Mountain West in field-goal defense, 3-point defense, rebounding margin and assists and set a school record for 3-pointers made.

Rose said he reminded his dejected players about their achievements following a 67-62 loss to Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA West Regional in Anaheim, Calif.

"We won a lot of games, won back-to-back Mountain West Conference regular-season championships," he said. "We beat a team ranked in the Top 10 for the first time in a long while. We've got a nice homecourt winning streak going. There's a lot of good things that are going on with BYU basketball."

So Trent Plaisted puts his name in the NBA draft, but has not hired an agent and can back out if he chooses to.

Forget what the impact to the team would be if he left, but I for one think it would be a mistake for him to leave now. Granted, he has size, but I think he is still too inconsistent to be considered a serious first round pick. Then add in the fact that most of the talented un ...(more)

I think that this team with or without Cummard and Plaisted has the talent to achieve a 3rd straight Championship. I don't know how Tavernari was able to leave Vegas without us recruiting him to play for the rebels. We should have picked him up because now he is one of the best players in the conference and we have to face him every season. Hell, by the time he's a senior you guys might ...(more)

Hey guys, I'm trying to set up a sim league starting next season, where a simulator plays out the game and gives you realistic scores and stuff, and your Cougars are still available! If you are interested or have any questions feel free to ...(more)

Some Rebel fans are wondering if this basketball triffle is headed towards another rivialry.  What do you guys think?

We believe that Kruger is going to have a tough squad next year that should produce a regular season championship and make some noise in the top 25.

I know you guys return your team from this year save a few and are only looking up from last seaso

Great year for Cummard, living up to his pre season all american status bestowed upon him by http://www.bofads.com/stories/allamerican.htm (I think he should have made more legit lists).

Any chance that he improves his game next year and goes pro?

They'd have to go deeper in the tourney next year, but ...(more)

In the 1980's St.Johns was a consistant National Power and Top 10 Program. They went to a Final Four ('85) and produced two National Player of the Years under Hall of Fame Coach Lou Carneseca.

Their home court was and is Madison Square Garden.

Since 1982 the Big East Tournament has been played in Madison Square Garden. The other schools accept the advantage this gives St.Johns. Beca ...(more)

(POLL)

I swear, this is it.  I'm attempting to be PC instead of being my usual a**h*** self.  I'm posting this poll at each MWC team site, and I will later post the results for each site.

If you had to choose one POY, who would it be, Giddens or Cummard?
