FINAL RECORD
13-19, 8-10, 10th place in Big East.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The building program of coach Mick Cronin began to take hold, although a late-season scoring slump didn't make it terribly obvious. G Deonta Vaughn emerged as a star and shot lights-out in Madison Square Garden with 30 points in a losing effort against Pitt in the Big East Tournament. Vaughn was named to the All-Big East first team. Freshmen F Rashad Bishop, G Larry Davis, C Anthony McClain, F Kenny Belton and F Alvin Mitchell grew as the season went along. The defense was strong.

WHAT WENT WRONG
A preseason Achilles tendon injury took Texas transfer F Mike Williams away from the Bearcats. The team, other than Vaughn and, late in the year, F Mike Williamson, never got on track offensively. Cincinnati was 14th in the conference in scoring offense and field-goal percentage and 15th in 3-point percentage.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"We've won enough games now, and people know nationally in recruiting circles -- kids, parents, coaches: See, they're back." -- coach Mick Cronin on the improvement in his Bearcats this year.
