FINAL RECORD
24-9, 13-5 in Big East, fourth place.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
A.J. Price emerged as an All-Big East player after struggling in 2006-2007, and that turned the point-guard spot from a weakness to strength. Jeff Adrien was once again reliable in the paint, and Hasheem Thabeet became a nightly force on defense and kept opponents from scoring in the paint. A 10-game midseason winning streak vaulted the Huskies back into the top 25 and returned the team to prominence nationally.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Despite the success, it was a strange season in a lot of ways. The team lost Jerome Dyson for a month due to a university-imposed suspension, but he played better without him despite his talent and despite the fact that when he returned as a reserve, he played very well. Doug Wiggins also was suspended, though for less time. For three years in a row, the Huskies have been strangely ambivalent in big games, and coach Jim Calhoun seemed to be at a loss after the San Diego game as to why that was.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"The potential is, the sky is the limit. If Hasheem (Thabeet) comes back, ... we can be very dangerous. If we can go this far this year -- almost win the Big East regular season, make it back to the tournament -- what can we do next year with everybody coming back? We can do a lot of things. We're still a very young team." -- Connecticut forward Jeff Adrien told the Hartford Courant after the loss to San Diego in the NCAA Tournament about the team's prospects for 2008-2009.
