THE GOOD NEWS
If everyone comes back, this is a top 10 team for 2008-2009 and one of the contenders to win it all in March. Few teams can match the inside-outside strength of A.J. Price and Jeff Adrien, and if Hasheem Thabeet comes back and improves as dramatically on offense, he'll be a matchup problem for everyone. Stanley Robinson took charge of the wing-forward slot and can be a star if he develops some more consistency.

THE BAD NEWS
For whatever reason, this team has been difficult for coach Jim Calhoun to motivate. When the Huskies lost Jerome Dyson and Doug Wiggins to midseason suspensions, the team looked fired up by its us-against-the-world mentality and surged to a 10-game win streak, including a victory at Indiana in which neither player participated. But once both returned, the team seemed to sag back into its usual inconsistency. If that continues again in 2008-2009, it'll be another up-and-down season in Storrs.

KEY RETURNEES
The A.J. Price-Jeff Adrien-Hasheem Thabeet trio will be one of the best in the country, if all return to school and are 100 percent healthy in 2008-2009. Every player in the rotation returns, with the coaching staff looking for more consistency from the likes of Stanley Robinson, Craig Austrie and Jerome Dyson.

ROSTER REPORT

--G A.J. Price tore his ACL in the NCAA Tournament loss to San Diego. The rising junior faces six months of rehab as the offseason begins, but he hopes to be ready to return once practice begins in October.

--G Doug Wiggins requested his release from UConn on April 15 and will transfer. Wiggins was suspended two games after he was involved in a police incident Jan. 24. He originally committed to St. John's but, being from East Hartford, chose UConn in the end.

He said the decision was motivated by a lack of playing time, not disciplinary action taken during the season. Coach Jim Calhoun said he respects the decision and will help him move on "to a place where he will be happy."

--G Jerome Dyson was suspended for a month during the season for failing a drug test. If he does so again, he'll be sidelined for an entire season.

--F Jeff Adrien made the All-Big East first team for being a strong scorer and rebounder. His 16 regular-season double-doubles tied Big East Player of the Year Luke Harangody for the most in the conference.
