THE GOOD NEWS
Duke will welcome back an experienced team -- DeMarcus Nelson was the only senior on the roster -- and once again will be one of the top teams in the country from the perimeter. The Blue Devils won 26 games despite having only two starters as tall as 6-8.

THE BAD NEWS
Despite his slump at the end of the year, Nelson was a leader for the Blue Devils, and was the team's leading scorer and only a rebound short of tying for the team lead in that department. Duke signed two players in November, and neither is the low-post man the Blue Devils desperately need to round out an otherwise potent lineup. Freshman Taylor King decided to transfer.

KEY RETURNEES
Kyle Singler was the team's No. 2 scorer (13.3 ppg), and at 6-8, can shoot the three as well as score inside. Gerald Henderson came on strong at the end of the season, and Jon Scheyer was the team's No. 4 scorer in his sixth man role. Greg Paulus cut back on his turnovers to 55 from 101 as a sophomore. Nolan Smith is a promising freshmen. King played in all 34 games but chose to transfer in late March.

ROSTER REPORT

--Greg Paulus scored 25 points in the two NCAA games to boost his career total to 1,017 points in three seasons.

--Jon Scheyer scored 13 points against Belmont and 15 against West Virginia to give him 23 games in double figures for the season and 46 in his two-year career.

--DeMarcus Nelson had a forgettable NCAA Tournament, scoring only eight points and snagging only six rebounds in the two games combined. He finished his career with 1,336 points and 606 rebounds, 33rd and 28th, respectively, on Duke's career lists.
