Phoenix report: Getting inside
The 2007-08 season is going to be a very pleasant memory for Elon's basketball team, even if the Phoenix finished with a below-.500 record. The last week of the season featured the Phoenix playing at their best. They made a run to the Southern Conference tournament championship game and put up a good fight before falling to top-seeded Davidson. That memory will certainly overshadow the fact that the Phoenix finished 14-19 overall even after the 3-1 run in the conference tournament. And it will be a memory that gives great optimism to the Elon faithful when they think of 2008-09. The Phoenix will lose only two seniors from this year's squad. No, the Phoenix didn't complete the Cinderella run and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, but they certainly gave themselves something to be proud of -- and look forward to.
