THE GOOD NEWS
Three starters return, including MAC Player of the Year Al Fisher and the league's strongest, most physical guard in Chris Singletary.

THE BAD NEWS
Kent State will have an entirely different look on the defensive end in 2008-09. The MAC's Defensive Player of the Year Haminn Quaintance and athletic defender Mike Scott both will have graduated.

KEY RETURNERS
As streaky as Fisher was on the floor, Singletary was streaky off the floor. If Singletary can get everything together, then he might be the MAC Player of the Year in 2009. He has that kind of talent. Point guard Jordan Mincy is the glue guy and a great on-ball defender. Three-point shooters Rashad Woods and Mike Scott also return.

ROSTER REPORT

--The Flashes will trade athleticism for bulk along the baseline next season. Junior center Brandon Parks (6-10, 280) and senior center Gabe Garcia (7-0, 250) will a formidable tag-team in the paint. The power forward is likely to be senior Julian Sullinger (6-4, 235).

--Junior combo guard Rodriquez Sherman will be a valuable player the next two seasons. KSU coach Jim Christian coached Sherman's cousin, Damon Frierson, an Indiana Mr. Basketball at Indianapolis Ben Davis, at Miami University in the 1990s.
