WHAT WENT RIGHT
The undermanned Bulldogs kept battling through the tough times, winning their final two games of the regular season, beating Hawaii and San Jose State at home. Several players had to grow up in a hurry, and one of those who did was sophomore guard Kyle Gibson, who averaged 16.5 points -- the only Bulldog in double figures for the season -- and had a team-high 5.0 rebounds per game. Gibson had four games with at least 25 points.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Louisiana Tech, which lost senior post Keith Smith to a dismissal halfway through the season, had no chance to compete on the boards this season, which was the root cause of its ills. The Bulldogs gave up way too many easy shots, which is why they allowed teams to shoot better than 50 percent. Their rebounding margin was minus 9.9 for the season.
