Maryland ended the Madness for Minnesota.

The Gophers lost in the first round of the NIT to Maryland, considered by most a mediocre -- or worse -- representative out of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terrapins had balanced scoring and they played solid defense, limiting Minnesota 31 percent shooting from the field and a woeful 8-of-32 night from 3-point range.

It was an early exit for Minnesota, which hoped to be playing in the bigger NCAA Tournament.

The Gophers had a number of chances. Road wins over UNLV or Florida State would have boosted their resume. And nail-biters against Michigan State on the road and Indiana at home could have easily gone their way. But they couldn't rack up the wins necessary to get into the Big Dance.

They had an emotional run in the Big Ten Tournament. A 16-point comeback in the first round against Northwestern was followed by a blown 16-point lead against Indiana in the second round that culminated with Blake Hoffarber's game winner as time expired.

Seniors Dan Coleman, Lawrence McKenzie and Spencer Tollackson all had played in the NCAA Tournament.

They give you 10 cents to start with and if you run out, you start over again, you can't lose, you can only win, it is great. You don't have to pay anything because they make their money off of advertisements. If anyone is interested i ...(more)

Won't be returning to the Gophers next season for his last season of eligibility so he can begin his pro career.  Good new for Gophers opponents, not so good (or unexpected) for Gophers fans like myself.  Congrats on a solid career as a Gopher and way to tough it out last year unlike a certain other player!  *cough* Okposo *cough*

(POLL) So, I have a theory I always like to throw out at the drunken, ignorant Sioux fans....

If UND had its main campus in Bismarck, and not Grand Forks, what kind of hockey program would it have?

If you look at the current roster, the very few natives on the team are solely from Grand Forks and Fargo, both towns on the Minnesota border, or in GF case, half in Minne

Spencer Tollackson, or "The Big Swede" as I like to call him, is about as effective as....well, a big uncoordinated swede.  When facing smaller opponents he does dominate, and that'll be missed next year, but when he matches up against a skilled big man it is just embarrassing.  He isn't quick enough to make a move toward the hoop.  It often looks like he's jus ...(more)

Has any of the Golden Gopher fans heard about this PG? He's the top ranked player that hasn't signed a LOI.  I posted something to this similar on the UK page but it didn't go anywhere so I figured I'd ask the other school atop on his list.  Some sites have him listed as highly interested in UK and Minnesota.  Others say he's highly interested in Indiana.  I know he visite ...(more)

I recently saw Cretin play...I wanted to see Floyd, Nance and Henderson.  Floyd is a gifted athlete, Nance played well, Henderson is an absolute beast.  I can see why every college football coach has their eyes on this kid.

Anyway, this got me thinking that I should hit some more local high school games.  It's a cheap ticket, good atmosphere, and fun to see the
