The Eagles took a step forward in Donnie Tyndall's second year at the helm.

MSU far exceeded expectations. Preseason predictions pegged the Eagles to finish 10th in the conference race.

But MSU came out of the gate firing, finishing just one game out of second place in the league, and earning a first-round home game in the OVC tournament.

The Eagles were unable to parlay the home-court advantage into a trip to Nashville.

The biggest problem for the Eagles was inconsistency, as MSU dropped a pair of games -- to cellar-dwellers Jacksonville State and Eastern Illinois -- that it had to win.

However, the future remains bright for a squad with a young, energetic coach, and a roster that returns nine of 11 players.
