FINAL RECORD
22-11, 14-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, first place.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Bears defense, led by MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Boubacar Coly, was the best in the MEAC, giving up just 61.4 points per game.

Coly's presence also helped the team on the boards -- where they had the best rebounding margin in the league -- and in blocked shots, another stat the Bears led the league in. Coach Todd Bozeman upped the team's schedule strength, with three of the team's first six nonconference opponents becoming NCAA Tournament teams, and that helped the Bears develop before they entered conference play.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Morgan State was hurt by the injury to leading scorer Jamar Smith late in the year. Smith missed the last two games of the MEAC tournament then was slowed for the NIT loss to Virginia Tech. The Bears' struggles at the free-throw line came up too often in close games, including the MEAC tournament final loss to Coppin State.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It felt like we were a real (Division I) program. When I first came in, we went from having home games with maybe 100 people and the fans scattered and a little cheer here and there to just so much fan support. I've never seen the school support so high." -- Morgan State senior Karanvir Aujla told the Baltimore Sun on the turnaround of the Morgan State basketball program.
