THE GOOD NEWS
Morgan State has started to establish itself as a power in the MEAC, but the team can really solidify its reputation with a run at another league title. Marquise Kately showed his potential as a lead scorer in the MEAC tournament, so he should be ready to step into that role next year, as should Reggie Holmes, who was the team's second-leading scorer this season. Although there are five seniors departing, there is experience on the Bears that should keep them in contention yet again.

THE BAD NEWS
There will be players that will be missed from the outgoing senior class, not the least of which is big man Boubacar Coly, the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and the center of the Bears defense. Also departing is leading scorer Jamar Smith, who showed how much the team missed him when he was lost to injury for a couple games in the MEAC tournament.

KEY RETURNEES
Kately has shown the potential of being a top scorer in the league, and he'll get his chance in 2008-09 as the main man of the Bears offense. G Reggie Holmes gives the Bears another scorer so teams won't be able to focus on just one player. Jermaine Bolden will be a key player for the Bears, as he takes over full-time at point guard.

ROSTER REPORT

--G Jamar Smith ranked fifth in the MEAC in scoring at 17.0 points per game, but his 28 3-pointers made were the fewest among the league's top 10 scorers.

--C Boubacar Coly led the MEAC in both blocked shots (2.59 per game) and rebounding (11.1 per game).

--G Jerrell Green's 3.76 assists per game placed him first in the MEAC while his assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.68 ranked second in the league.
