FINAL RECORD
23-10, 10-4 Big South

WHAT WENT RIGHT
C Kenny George matured into a very good basketball player. After a sophomore season when he was severely limited by sore knees and poor conditioning, George attended Pete Newell's big-man camp in California. The results showed. George got many of his points right around the basket, but he showed some skill passing out of double teams and added some moves and hook shots to his offensive repertoire.

WHAT WENT WRONG
When George and G Bryan Smithson were injured, the Bulldogs slumped, losing four straight conference games to turn a sure-fire conference title into a dogfight with Winthrop. UNCA rebounded to win its final three league games, including the season finale at Winthrop that secured home court in the Big South tournament.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's been a long, long season and those guys played their hearts out. Our seniors gave a lot to this program all year. They deserved a little better." -- Coach Eddie Biedenbach.
