The Spartans were holding out hope that their season would be extended on Selection Sunday, but by the end of the day, no tournament had called UNC Greensboro with an invitation.

So instead of a move into postseason play, the Spartans had to be satisfied with three more overall victories from the prior year.

Of course, the 2007-08 campaign will be remembered around Greensboro as the last year of the Kyle Hines era. Hines put together one of the great college basketball careers in history, ranking with such players as David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning and Derrick Coleman with his final stats.

But even the presence of Hines couldn't get the Spartans to become a consistently winning road team. UNCG managed just a 7-8 record on opponent's home floors, a problem that has been with the program for a few years.

The upward movement continues for the Spartans, although the loss of probably the greatest player in the program's history will certainly take its toll in 2008-09.
