THE GOOD NEWS
Northern Iowa will have several point guards next season and Kwadzo Ahelegbe will be healthy. Junior college transfer Ali Farokhmanesh and freshman-to-be John Moran will get a shot. With C Jordan Eglseder and F Adam Koch back, the Panthers will have two of the MVC's best big men. Both improved as sophomores and should be ready for more consistent performances as juniors. Junior F Carlton Reed, a transfer from Iowa, showed some of his athletic talent late in the season. If he stays healthy and continues to improve, he can give the Panthers an athletic swingman.

THE BAD NEWS
Northern Iowa's point guard, no matter who it is, will be inexperienced. Departing senior Eric Coleman did so much for the Panthers, it's hard to imagine them improving without him. Senior guards Jared Josten and Adam Viet were four-year players who could shoot and knew how to win. Their replacements will not be as seasoned.

KEY RETURNEES
Eglseder and Koch are good scorers and smart players who should match up well with any MVC frontline. It's time for junior G Travis Brown to be more consistent. Perhaps his senior season will trigger a wire-to-wire effort.

ROSTER REPORT

--C Eric Coleman passed ex-teammates Brooks McKowen and Grant Stout in games played at 128. He is also the only Division I player in the nation to lead his team in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocked shots, steals and field goal percentage.

--C Jordan Eglseder should turn into one of the MVC's best inside scorers. He has the height and the hands. He is also an improving outside threat. He made 1 of 2 threes as a freshman. He made 9 of 25 as a sophomore.
