FINAL RECORD
21-14, 12-4 in WAC play, tied for first in Western Athletic Conference.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
NMSU clicked late in the year, especially at home. The Aggies rode a 7-1 home record in WAC games to a regular season co-championship and played in its second WAC Tournament championship game in as many years.

The Aggies dominated the boards, leading the WAC and finishing ranked in the top five in the country in rebounding margin at plus-8.9.

WHAT WENT WRONG
The early season adjustment to a new coach and waiting out the NCAA's approval for two star freshmen to play led the first-year coach Marvin Menzies to coach without his full roster until two weeks into the WAC schedule.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Awfully hurt and disappointed but extremely proud and honored to have coached these seniors. They are warriors, they're soldiers. I love them all." -- New Mexico State first-year head coach Marvin Menzies.

I was not surprised when Freshmen PG JayDee Luster and fellow Frosh Deangelo Jones decided to transfer out of the NMSU B-ball program  due to the fact that neither player was going to get many minutes next year. But, I was shocked today when I heard fellow Freshmen Forward Wendell Mckines decided he wanted to leave the program so he can play closer to home in the bay area. Is this a sign of t ...(more)

Nevada to a huge hit to its b-ball program when super talented Javale Mcgee decided to leave early for the NBA. A formal announcement will be made Monday at a news conference. I think if he would have stayed one more year he would have been an All-American candidate. As a fan of NMSU  watching Javale the last two years the progress from his first year to his second year was mind blowing. I am ...(more)

Well, it doesn't matter if the team is NMSU or BSU, either team will be a one and out team in the NCAA Tourney.

This year's March madness rocked!

There were two deserving teams who played in an amzing NCAA final, pro basketball just never reaches this level of excitement. We had two cinderella's, villinova and Western Ky, make it to the sweet 16, and the king of cinderellas Davidson (the new Gonzaga) made it to the elite 8 and give the eventual champs all they could handle. I'm

Just read that Freshmen  guard Jay Dee Luster has been given his release from the NMSU basketball team. Did he really have a chance to start next year with Terrance Joyner ( Former Arkansas commit ) deciding to come to NMSU as a point guard next season? Does anybody think this is a big loss for the program? I believe JayDee was a good player but too small and never was totally ...(more)

sure, we won by 20...but i was disappointed in a couple things...

#1 WAY too many turnovers - they're trying to do WAY to much...just let the play develop...stop trying to force things

#2 Attendance - this is our HOME COURT!! WHERE IS EVERYONE??!!! the ones that were there were great, but 7100 for a home tournament game? that's not gonna cut it...and about 1500 of those ...(more)

The NIT takes Utah State?  The selection committee must have been checking out their cheerleaders and spirit squad (very hot!) instead of their basketball accomplishments.  Sure, they had a good record, but playing the likes of Utah Valley St, Montana Western, Santa Clara shouldn't count...  c'mon!  They had 4 losses against Utah, Vandy, NMSU, Irvine by more than 30 ...(more)
