FINAL RECORD
Overall 14-18, 5-11 SEC, fifth place in Eastern Division.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Gamecocks won three road games in SEC play, all over Western Division opponents (Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn). They then knocked off another Western team, LSU, in the first round of the SEC tournament before pushing overall conference champ Tennessee to the limit before losing by two points. Devan Downey emerged as one of the league's top scorers and the leader in steals.

WHAT WENT WRONG
The Gamecocks struggled closing out some potential wins, losing a one-point decision to Vanderbilt and an overtime loss to Mississippi State because of defensive lapses. Those were not the only close defeats. They also lost twice to Florida by a total of five points. They were out-rebounded by an average of nine boards a game in conference play.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"We want to compete nationally. We want to be relevant nationally. We want to compete for championships. And we want to do it right away." -- Darrin Horn, new SC coach, on his expectations for the Gamecocks.
