Jackrabbits report: Strategy and personnel
A sequence in SDSU's final game against Centenary proved the perfect description of the Jacks' transition. With the score tied 46-46 with nine minutes left, Centenary missed a free throw and freshman F Anthony Cordova was in perfect position for the rebound. But he accidentally pushed the ball into the Gents basket, giving Centenary a lead. The miscue clearly deflated SDSU, which struggled down the stretch. "It changed everything," coach Scott Nagy said. "That one play was our season in a microcosm." PLAYER ROTATION GAME REVIEW North Dakota State 63, SDSU 60 Oral Roberts 67, SDSU 52 Centenary 69, SDSU 64 IN FOCUS "It's the difference -- this time of year -- a team being 8-19 and probably not having any confidence and a team being 20-7 and having all kinds of confidence," Oral Roberts coach Scott Sutton said after his team beat SDSU in the penultimate game of the season. "I've had teams like they have here, and you just expect something bad to happen." ROSTER REPORT --SDSU will get some backcourt help next season when senior Mackenzie Casey, who redshirted this season, will return. --SDSU loses three seniors -- F Ben Beran, C Mohammed Berte (who missed the late stages of the season after breaking his arm in a game) and F Michael Loney. --Beran ends his career as the 11th all-time leading scorer at South Dakota State with 1,285 career points.
