THE GOOD NEWS
The Hatters return all five starters and four others who appeared in at least 31 games in 2007-08. Four different players led Stetson in scoring over the last six games and eight players led or shared the lead in rebounding in the last eight games, making the Hatters one of the league's most balanced and experienced teams.

THE BAD NEWS
Sophomore guard A.J. Smith needs to be more consistent with his passes and 6-9 junior center Tim Lang must be more consistent on the boards. Smith had two games with 10 turnovers and nine other games with at least five. Lang grabbed 11 rebounds in the first meeting against Kennesaw State, but had zero in the rematch.

KEY RETURNEES
Junior guard Garfield Blair led Stetson in scoring and rebounding and had three double-doubles. Recruit J.R. Weston II of Morral, Ohio, is a 6-5 shooting guard and the son of former Hatter Randy Weston (1980-81) and nephew of Stetson Hall of Famer Brad Weston (1978-82).

ROSTER REPORT

--Junior guard Garfield Blair earned second-team All-Atlantic Sun honors following a season in which he reached the 1,000-point plateau and scored in double figures 26 times. He scored a season-high 32 points at North Florida on Jan. 5 and collected a season-high 11 rebounds at Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 11.

--Stetson's lone senior, 6-8 forward J.J. Hirst, appeared in 114 games during his career and tallied 354 points, 235 rebounds, 45 steals, 43 assists and 24 blocked shots.

the Hatters.  Taking down Jacksonville was impressive.  Maybe they can get to the NIT.

Geaux Hatters!
