FINAL RECORD
22-12, 10-4 Big South

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The defense matured quickly, helping to overcome some offensive shortcomings. Winthrop was aggressive but smart on the defensive end, filling passing lanes and cutting off penetration, forcing teams to shoot over them. Only eight times did an opponent reach the 70-point mark against Winthrop.

WHAT WENT WRONG
None of the young players really turned into consistent offensive threats. Byron Faison, Charles Corbing, Justin Burton and Andy Burchert all showed flashes of brilliance, but none were able to sustain it for long periods of time. As a result, if Michael Jenkins and Taj McCullough weren't scoring, Winthrop struggled.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"This team's been hit. I feel like a boxer who's been in a heavyweight fight for 34 games, and for 34 games, we stepped up." -- Coach Randy Peele in the Rock Hill Herald.
