Raiders report: Getting inside
Before head coach Brad Brownell arrived on campus, Wright State hadn't put together a 20-win season since 1992-93. But instead of reveling in a second straight 20-win campaign and a second-place finish in the Horizon League, the 2007-08 season had an air of disappointment because it didn't lead back to the Big Dance. "When you go to the NCAA, anything less isn't as good," forward Jordan Pleiman told the Dayton Daily News after a second-round conference tournament loss to Valparaiso. "You never want to go out on a poor note, although it doesn't mean your season wasn't an overall success just because you lost." Whereas last season's success was powered by Horizon Player of the Year DaShaun Wood, this season's achievements were truly a team effort. Five different players led the Raiders in scoring and six led the team in rebounding. Seven different players scored in double figures at least once. Wright State also set a new Division I school record with an 11-game winning streak and tied a 1974 team mark for fewest points allowed with a 60-37 victory over Detroit in the opening round of the Horizon tournament.
