The quarterback threw three interceptions and zero touchdowns, but did have 214 yards passing and scored Houston's only TD on a 1-yard run.


Jon Cornish, Kansas
The running back led the team in rushing with 93 yards on 18 carries. He also had two touchdowns, both on shovel passes and scored two touchdowns on two shovel passes, going 13 and 30 yards.

  • Kansas had their first winning season and first bowl victory in 10 years.
  • Houston has lost six straight bowls since winning the 1980 Garden State Bowl.

    Great Moments

    2003: Ryan Dinwiddie ended his career as the most efficient passer in college football, and by leading Boise State to its first bowl victory away from home. Dinwiddie threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns as Boise State defeated TCU 34-31 in the inaugural Fort Worth Bowl. TCU sophomore Mike Wynn missed a 51-yard field goal attempt with seven seconds remaining.
