'Noles OT Rose to attend juco in attempt to regain eligibility

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State offensive tackle Daron Rose is ineligible for the season and will attend a junior college.

Rose, who started 11 games last season, will attempt to regain his eligibility, school officials said Wednesday.

Rose's departure is the second this week for the Seminoles, who are coming off consecutive 7-6 seasons. Sophomore linebacker Marcus Ball, another projected starter, was released from his scholarship Monday.

Star receiver Preston Parker is ineligible until he resolves a felony gun charge.

Coach Bobby Bowden also will be without a half dozen of his top players for the first three games because of a classroom cheating scandal in a music history class.

Due to unforessen circumstances we are now accepting applications for men (women will also be considered) for various positions at Doak Campbell Stadium to move pigskin up and down field and in some cases (very rare) to prevent others from moving pigskin. Benefits include a new grandfather, freuqent sermons and the privilege of playing the Florida Gators. All applicants welcome. No educati ...(more)

" Florida safety Jamar Hornsby turned himself in Friday for allegedly using the credit card of a woman killed six months ago in an accident that also killed a teammate, The Gainesville Sun reported."

Well, there goes another one. I wonder if they'll have even 11 left eligible when the University of Florida lays its annual beatdown on them. Well, that's the natural outcome of attending a school like FSU. The noxious atmosphere gets to you, and you begin doing stupid things.

Perhaps FSU will even have to forfeit its season for lack of players. That would be the ultimate in hum ...(more)

Usually a university "with F.S.U. that term is an oxymoron" that has a great season follows it with gun charges, suspensions, etc. Has been seen with schools such as Nebraska, Miami, etc, but when your school is mired in a muliti year run of barely .5oo winning percentages it is horrible. Has FSU fallen so far that they have to take fringe players of questionable character to compete with 5-star ...(more)

Has Florida State changed their name to Miami. Or maybe now they are the Florida State Cowboys instead of Seminoles. Their season is trashed and it hasn't even begun yet. Guns, assaults, academics, fights. Sounds like Tommy needs to either get a grip on his program or turn it over to Jumbo. Of course, I don't mind. It is good to see the Florida programs having their problems instead of their way a ...(more)
