After a T-Day game that featured a slew of fumbles, a bad snap on a field-goal try and an interception, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson may have been guilty of a bit of an understatement in his post-scrimmage summation.

"I like the way our guys competed and there were some big plays," Johnson said. "We've got to get to the point where we execute at a higher level."

Some bumps were expected along the way with Johnson installing the more run-oriented offense he brought from Navy, but as many as eight fumbles on the center-quarterback exchange and pitchouts was troubling.

It's an indication that Johnson and his staff are going to have to start fast when fall camp opens. The Yellow Jackets open against Jacksonville State on Aug. 28 and then face back-to-back ACC road games at Boston College and Virginia Tech.

The Jackets will have seven new starters on each side of the ball, including at quarterback, where Taylor Bennett decided to leave instead of trying to adapt his drop-back passing skills to the new offense.

Though he was limited by a groin injury over the final couple of weeks of the spring, sophomore Josh Nesbitt showed enough promise to earn his coach's praise.

"I am excited about Josh," Johnson said. "The more Josh can play, the better he is going to be. He has all the tools to be a great player. He just needs more experience.

"I feel good about the attitude of the team. There is an excitement and a willingness to learn."

By NOSTRADAMUS. The NBA Finals are over, and golf is now finished since Tiger is on an injury sabbatical. What do we have left? Football. Real football. College football, to be exact. Time to get your mean on.

In the next 60-some days before the college football season kicks off on August 30, I'll try to give you the low down about the season at h

We just picked up anoher commitment for next season buy a 6-3 230 lb running back from flowery branch.  With this, our recruiting class is really starting to shape up.  The star being JC Lanier, one of the best DL in the nation.  We have a very bright future with paul johnson i believe.

I think that the GT board has the lowest amount of threads and doesn't even have any polls. Whats the deal with that? Not enough PC knowledged GT fans?

(POLL) Lots of shaking up at good ole Georgia Tech.  I say its a good thing, but with this year being our rebuilding year what kind of season are we looking at.  We do have plenty of talent on the bench that could lead this team to a decent 2008 season.   How many wins does everyone predict.

Wow just saw on ESPN Marcus Ball, Reggie Ball's little bro was released from his scholarship at Florida State.  Not sure of the reason why??? but he was one off the players who was caught in the cheating scandal a few months ago.  I truly believe GT dodged a bullet here by missing on this kid.

Paul Johnson says that the Jackets will wear the traditional uniforms for home games this year: White Jerseys / Gold Pants.

Tech is one of the few schools in the nation that elects to wear light-colored jerseys for their home games -- LSU is one of the exceptions. I can't think of any others in college football.

I personally like the tradtion, but certainly enjoyed when Tech broke out ...(more)

I was very surprised to see both Oliver and Robertson not get drafted. A little surprised to see Guyton get picked considering some of the other OLB that did get picked up.

Congrats to Wheeler, Choice and Brooks.

We are losing players and recruits left and right.

From the AJC:

"Donley is one of several players who either left Tech or chose not to sign after the coaching change. Starting quarterback Taylor Bennett has said he will transfer after he graduates in May. Scottsdale, Ariz., high school quarterback Sean Renfree and Henry

So what are people's thoughts on the Jackets for 2008?

I think we will struggle to get to our traditional 7 wins that we seem to always have under Gailey.  Just feel like there is too much change to come out winning the tough games.
