Entry of a clown in Spygate making circus look like child's play

Recently, a new piece of information regarding accusations that the New England Patriots cheated their way to dynastic supremacy was published and it should cause a lot of people to finally shut the hell up.

It won't, but it should.

Just in case you missed it this weekend, the New York Daily News reported on a scene involving former New York Jets coach Herm Edwards several years ago. Edwards knew that the Patriots filmed the signals of opponents so the Jets coach took precautions to thwart them by altering their system of signaling plays.

I am told the Jets took even more steps to protect their secrecy when they played the Patriots. Security around the team's practice facility was increased during New England week and Jets personnel were on the lookout for strange men with cameras (sounds like a night in Central Park). That's how well-known Belichick was for his electronic espionage.

Edwards, blessed with a good sense of humor and a prankster's genome, changed the team's signals during games against the Patriots, but then added a little spice. Edwards was so aware of Belichick's practices that when seeing the filming equipment, he clowned it, actually waving to the camera.

The year this happened? It was 2004.

Let me repeat that. It was four years ago.

Four damn years.

If what Belichick did, portrayed by Patriots Haters and Belichick Bashers as the end of civilization as we know it, was so advantageous to them and despicable, why were coaches like Edwards mocking it?

Why didn't he turn in Belichick, if what Belichick was doing was so significant and dastardly?

The answer: Because it wasn't.

The Daily News article, to me, is one of the more important pieces of this Patriots Spygate puzzle. It might not seem so but it is.

If a savvy longtime NFL employee (Edwards has been playing and coaching in professional football for decades) did nothing to stop Belichick's spying and even sarcastically mocked it, then how much of an advantage could Belichick have gotten over the years with this practice?

The Patsies got caught taping signals.  If it didnt make a difference than why did they keep doing it?  Freeman says because everyone else is doing it??? Really??

If the Pats got caught and everyone else is doing it, it makes you wonder what else the Pats are cheating at.

Only someone who has cheated during their life would defend a cheater..whether other teams did it or the extent of the advantage is irrelevant...he cheated, he got caught.  If other teams are doing it, they deserve to get caught and punished.

Ridiculous fecal matter spewing from my monitor once again, courtesy of Mike Freeman.

Mike, are you serious?

People, this spying thing is no different than what some MLB teams did years ago when they used cameras and binoculars to steal catcher's pitch signals during ballgames.  Cheating in cheating is cheating is cheating is friggin cheating.  Period.&n

If everyone in the NFL thinks it's no big deal and everyone does it, why did Goodell penalize BB & the Pats?

bellicheck is slated for the HOF and edwards is just a by-word.

nice guys always come last !!

considering that the Patriots won SBs with margins under a TD, indicates how big of a difference spying is.

bellicheck deserves a 30 year wait to get into the HOF

OK, so we have it down now that the NFL and other coaches KNEW BB did was taping defensive teams signals....

(unless all of a sudden you all retract that thought)

then why did the NFL not stop it? or why did they ONLY punish (apparently the ONLY team doing this.....bs btw) the Pats?

simple, Goodell was looking for an easy solution to a grave problem, and h ...(more)

"Why didn't [Edwards] turn in Belichick?"  Are you kidding me?  When Mangini reported it he was mocked endlessly.  He was a traitor.  He broke the coaches code.  He was a snitch.  Does any of this sound vaguely familar to you Freeman?  Do  you think this type of reaction had anything to do with coaches not reporting it.   Supp ...(more)

If it is so rampant and everyone was doing it, why would Herm pay any particular attention to Belichek?  Herm should be doing the same thing for around 30 other coaches.  Why would it be "well known" that Belichek did it if he was just one of many?

"Four damn years."  When was that allegedly taped Superbowl walkthrough you mathematical wiz?

I can't say I agree with Mr. Freeman on alot but this article hits the nail on the head! Sorry Haters..I know the truth hurts.

A rules violation is just that....a rules violation! The Patriots broke the rules and were punished for it. End of Story!

It's time to move on!
