Cox to AAA, Melancon to AA

Posted on: May 14, 2008 8:51 am

Reinforcements are on the way with the news that former Texas closer and 2005 draft pick JB Cox has gotten the bump up to Scranton, and former Arizona State closer and 2006 draft pick Mark Melancon has been pulled up to AA Trenton.

Both college closers are making their way back from TJ surgery. Cox has a 1.98 ERA in 12 innings spread over A, AA, and AAA, Melancon has a 2.84 ERA over 25 innings of high A ball.

More signs that preparations are being made for the shift of Chamberlain to the rotation.

Cox to AAA, Melancon to AA

More good news. Alan Horne pitched a simulated game yesterday and said it "went great", according to Chad Jennings. Horne says he feels ready to rejoin the Scranton rotation and that should happen sometime early next week.

Cox to AAA, Melancon to AA

That is great news. Some publications were predicting Melancon would have a chance to make the Yankees this year.

Cox was on the way before his surgery.

Horne would be great to see in the rotation. Igawa needs to dominate in AAA so some other fool will take him.
