Player Assessment (First Half)

Welcome to Pistons Central, since I quit talking about my team on the main NBA boards it's time for me to blog about em.  I'm gunna go through our starting 5 and 6th man Jason Maxiell.

Chauncey Billups - Why couldn't he be this good from the begining of his career??  Right now I think Chauncey is one of the top 5 PG's in the league.  Great Defense, focused, distrubutor, CLUTCH.  Chauncey has been knockin down last second shots for years now.  He has earned his nickname, Mr. Big Shot.  He probly wont go down as one of the best PG's to play the game, but I KNOW that the great fans of Detroit will never forget what he's done here.

Richard Hamilton - I think we can call him Mr. Consistant.  Rip is always good for 20 points a night.  He's not your slashing, ball handling SG, but Rip can shoot the lights out from anywhere on the court.  Joe D traded our best player(at the time) Jerry Stackhouse and a couple scrubs for Rip and a couple scrubs, and I bet everyone thought he was crazy.  Rip has proved that he was well worth it and has been our leading scorer for 3 or 4 years straight now.      Did anybody notice that Rip has become a lot more fiesty since he started wearing the mask a couple years ago???

Tayshaun Prince - 7 foot wingspan!! Tay is our lock-down defender and our "X-Factor".  He played an important role in our title run.  His defense is great and he shows he can play offense very good but very inconsistant.  He needs to put his back to the basket more and let those stretch armstrong arms do the work.

Antonio Mcdyess - I'd rather have him start than an old, fat, slow Chris Webber.  'Dyess was awsome til he was hit with all the injuries but never gave up.  He can still defend well and rebound really good too.  He has worked on his jumper since he cant just go out and dunk on everyone like he used to.

My Favorite Piston, Mr. Rasheed Wallace - Man, this guy is fun to watch.  He took us over the top when we acquired him in '04.  I know he lets his temper get out of hand most of the time but I'd rather have a player that gets in the other teams head than one who doesn't say anything.  'Sheed is a top 10 PF in the NBA today.  He' one of the best defenders, one of the best in the post(barely does it anymore), and has developed a 3-point shot(that he shoots too much).  He is our most versatile players because he can do it all.  IMO if 'Sheed woulda had a better attitude(keep the emotion) all his career he woulda been mentioned as one of the greatest at his position.

6th man of the year???(probly not)...

Jason Maxiell - He is our spark off the bench.  He brings that much needed energy that other bench players feed off of too.  He is still a young player so his game is still improving.  He is a good defender but like Skee-Lo said,"I wish I was a little bit TALLER".  He is a little wild in the post with his shot but he still needs time to develop a post game.

That's my Pistons Central Player Assessment.
