Player assesment (Second Half)

Posted on: February 12, 2008 2:30 pm

Ok, we are about half way through the season and I wanna get my thoughts of our Pistons up untill today.

Chauncey Billups - Chauncey has been having a great season and he STILL is one of the elite PG's in the NBA.

Richard RIP Hamilton - Career year!! avging 18.5 points while SHOOTING FIFTY%.  I think RIP is one of the most underrated players in the league.  He is extremely consistant and he plays VERY good defense.  I think he is underrated because he is not a traditonal SG.  He doesnt dunk or slash or dribble well BUT he can knock down that jumper alll dayyy longgg.

Tayshaun PrinceA lot of people are upset with his inconsistancy and his lack of "killer instinct".  I know he has had an inconsistant year but I know he will be alright.  He IS our X-Factor and I know he will be BIG for us in the playoffs.

Antonio McDyess - He's been OK but I would rather have someone else (not on our team) starting at PF.  I think Dyess was more valuable to us coming off the bench.

Sheeeeed -  Sheed has had a great first half.  His numbers dont prove that but he is our most versatile player.  I like that he was givin the nod to play in the all star game (BY DAVID STERN haha).  I would like to see Sheed in the post more where I think he plays the best.  Those 3's are good but I think he is almost impossible to stop in the post.

Reserves....

Jason Maxiell - He's been inconsistant but he is still a SOLID PF coming off the bench.  He lights a fire under the benchs @ss.  If this guy was a little taller he would be one of the best PF's in the league (in a couple years).

Rodney Stuckey - He still needs a couple years to develop but he does show a lot of potential.  I like that he can drive to the rim and score(a little sloppy now).  I think he will be an awsome player once he becomes a little more careful with the ball.  Right now he is making bad passes and stupid TO's but it all looks like rookie mistakes.

Aaron Afflalo - (my fav reserve) AA looks like a stud.  He is always hustling and making the right moves.  RIGHT NOW I think he is our best rook.  AA plays with a lot of confidence and plays very good defense.  He is an example of DEETROIT BASKETBALL(hustle, defense, and confidence).

Amir Johnson - I have a thread about Amir on the Pistons page.  I thnk he will need a couple more years to develop his game.  He looks lost out there right now.  Bad TO's and not being able to handle the ball will get u a nice warm seat on the bench.

Thoughts???

Player assesment (Second Half)

first off, I love the Pistons. They are my favorite team because they are the Detroit team who is the most consistant other than the Red Wings(which i dont like hockey sooo...) and from what ive seen i think Stuckey might be the better rookie. Coming off the hand injury i really was not sure what he would bring to the team, but he has been a very solid backup point guard with the ability to drive and shoot. Afflalo definitly has defense on him, but Aaron does not usually match up against the best players...

what about Jarvis "why not" Hayes, what do you think of him?

me too, but as of RIGHT NOW I think AA is more developed and Stuckey needs a little more time to learn.

I think Jarvis is a good scoring option off the bench. I think he can shoot the three ball really good.

Player assesment (Second Half)

Very good post. Just a couple little comments.

Hamilton - I just love how he swarms on the defensive end. While I agree he is an underrated player I think it is because people vastly underestimate his D.

McDyess - Everybody is so down on this guy and for the most part I disagree with those that say he needs to come off the bench. His roll as a bench player has
