Last season I was talked into joining a Fantasy Football league for the first time. Well, I had never thought much of Fantasy anything, but what the heck it was a way to keep in touch with friends on the Racing Boards and gave us a chance for a little competition. So what happened?
Well, I joined 2 leagues and then Hockey season started. Well, Being a Hockey fan I joined 2 more leagues and it was fun watching football and hockey games while having the laptop open and seeing how I was doing. Then I started to really manage my team, I started looking at the free agent lists almost daily, checking the transaction listings to see if someone may have dropped a player I was willing to have on my team or replace an injured player. Then the trades, I wanted to make trades and would listen to any offer. Not necessarly complete a trade but willing to listen and maybe tweak it to where we both agreed.
Now as a NASCAR fan when January rolled around and racing season was ready to start gearing up here comes more fantasy leagues. I got into one on Yahoo, CBS, 5 on ESPN, 1 on Fox, 1 on our local Fox Station, and 2 on NASCAR.com. Well, you'd think that be enough for anyone but wait, Baseball, and I love Baseball.
So I joined 2 baseball leagues here on CBS and once again I get to pick up and release players, make trades and I have the laptop open for the games that come on MLB Extra Innings keeping track of how my team is doing, do I have a chance etc. My wife thinks I'm crazy but what the heck I am enjoying myself.
Now Football season is gearing up and the leagues are forming. Right now I'm in 4 leagues and getting my Draft Order ready. I cannot wait for Draft day so I can see who I have, and whose got who so I can make possible trades for players I want.
Oh, by the way, I was the regular season champion in one of my football leagues, lost in the first round, Won one of the Hockey League championships, and am doing ok in autoracing and Baseball. Those seasons still have a long way to go so you never know I may get another championship before it's over.
I know myself and a few others feel like we should start a Fantasy League Anonymous for those of us who have become junkies. So let everyone know are you a Fantasy League Junky? IF so how did you get started and how many leagues do you play in?
