I posted this on a thread earlier, I just want this on record for future references.

For every LeBron, KG, Kobe, etc, you have 50 guys who came out of high school you've never heard of and were never drafted, only to have their lives ruined. Slimball agents are filling their heads with lies that they're good enough to be 1st round picks, so they sign with the agent and are now ineligable for NCAA play. Obviously they're not NBA material at the time, so they go undrafted, and can't play college ball. Since they're usually not smart enough to go to college and get an education, they are now screwed. Obviously by going straight to the draft, they think of it as a quick pay day, and a way to "get out of the hood" the easy way.

So now they can't play NCAA, they can't get into post secondary school, and they can't make the NBA. You're only choices are to go through life working at McDonald's, go into the crime business, or abandon your family and give Europe a shot.

By making the age limit 20, you're giving these kids free education which most of them will end up using, and a chance to take baby steps in developing their game.

I bet Sebastion Telfair and Gerald Green wish they had to college for a year or 2.

P.S. Just for th record, I don't care if the age limit is 19 or 20, both are fine with me.

Why the NBA age limit is a good thing

For every LeBron, KG, Kobe, etc, you have 50 guys who came out of high school you've never heard of and were never drafted, only to have their lives ruinedThat's not really true, players are far less likely to flop out of the league coming from high school than they are coming out of college. On top of that your life isn't ruined if you sign a multi million dollar contract as a 18 year old, even if you flop out right away you're still set for the rest of your life. And if you do flop out of the NBA you're usually able to find work in Europe playing professional basketball over there. That is not a lruined life by any stretch of the imagination. Also since there are far more players coming out of college who flop out of the NBA (percentage-wise) wouldn't that ruin their life as well if they didn't graduate? Of course not because if worst comes to worst they'll still have the money to go back to college and get their degree

I understand that there are agents who trick kids into telling them they're better than they are, but we see that with players who leave college early just as often then wind up never getting drafted. It's just an unfortunate part of the business that is basketball but is not something the age limit is going to reduce. At least now they have the NBDL where these kids can go and develop their game even faster than at the college level

Why do you think Telfair and Green are regretting not going to college? I don't know their contracts but they made millions of dollars each from their rookie contracts. Why would they want to go to college so they could've been exposed as the overrated prospects they were and not only not have any income for however many years they stayed in college, but when they did eventually sign their rookie contract it would've been for less money than it wound up being straight out of high school. And for every player you name that you think wishes they went to college, there are Dominic James' of the world who could've left after their freshman year and been a lottery pick but because they decided to stay at college they won't even be drafted. That costs him and his family millions of dollars, not to mention he's going to have to get a real job which he'll hate (all the while thinking "if only")

Those guys will be out of the league in 2-3 years, and with the way people like to spend money these days, that money
