the Rays just rapped up a sweep of the Blue Jays tonight with a 5-3 victory at disneys wide world of sports....oddly enough they rays are now 6-0 in regular season games played at champions stadium...they also swept texas there last season.....all three rays starters recorded a victory in the series and the bullpen continued to pitch outstanding...this bullpen has been night and day from last seasons debacle(coming into tonight they had the lowest bullpen era in the american league and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to preserve a win for andy sonanstine)....carl crawford had a big series and is really starting to heat up...longoria and hinske also contributed with the bat again and continue to drive in runs.....carlos pena continues to scuffle a bit allthough his power numbers and rbi's are still pretty good...he also had a low average last april before exploding in may june and july.....the rays will face Tim Wakefield tomorrow night and clay bucholz on saturday...they close out the series against Josh Beckett.....a series win against boston is certainly not out of the question...matt garza will return and pitch the series opener tomorrow in st. pete.....hopefully the bats can keep it going and the pitching continues to go deep into games...tror percival will be unavailable in the first 2 games of the series in all likelyhood as he has pitched in four straight games after tonight....as always go rays.

rays sweep toronto...The Rays looked great against a team most are picking to be third in the AL East. The Rays will take one out of three from the Red Sox, as long as the Sox can get healthy. The flu may be Tampa Bay's best friend, though. |

rays sweep toronto...as of now the flu bug has really hindered the red sox rotation more than anything....wakefield has always been tough against the rays but he is beatable...bucholz has been anything but consistant this season and josh beckett hasnt pitched in a week and a half...i think 2 out of the three isnt a stretch for the rays...providing the starting pitching remains solid. |
