With an impressive back court looming in the near future with Anthony Gurley & David Gibbs suiting up for the Minutemen next fall.  Can anyone explain to me why Coach Ford hasn't contacted John Riek-Suas the #11 prospect in the class of 2008 which just happens to be in his backyard in Winchendon, MA prep school?

This kid blew it up at the Lebron James Academy he is 7'2 with a large wingspan to block & alter shots.

Coach Ford get on the phone!

where have you been? Their is a new NBA eligibility rule that requires you to be 19 years of age?

19 years old is actually not the rule.. The rule states that you must be 1 year removed from high school which is what Riek is doing by spending it at a Prep School which is different from high school

Yeah, you have to be one year removed, but also you have to be 19. Look it up.

Prep school is different but the same from High School...If you graduate high school you can still go to a prep school for one year and be considered one year removed, Mayo and Gordon had not graduate High school so they were what are called seniors at the prep school(as oppossed to Riek, who would be a post graduate)...To answer the posters original question, I think Ford is actually out of scholarships at this point unless one of the recruits who took a prep this year decides to opt out.

actually, Oak Hill is a Prep HS. He is not in the NBA because Oak Hill was his HS. Look it up. Eric Gordon? Went to North Central. Also not a prep school. The age rule applies, yes, you must be 19 years of age, however, the rule that discriminates against most HS players is that you must be one year removed from HS graduation.

Actually, Oak Hill is a high school. Not a Prep School. Loof it up. So therefore, OJ Mayo would not have been eligable to enter the 2007 draft. Eric Gordon? He went to North Central High School. Also, not a prep school. The 19 year old age rule applies, yes, but it is mostly the rule that players must be one year removed from HS graduation that discriminates against the most players.

John Riek is still available on the board.  UConn is pursuing him with Thabeet not ready for the league why would he sign to be a backup.  This kid will draw attention from programs all over the country.  UMass still has a scholarship available for him.  He goes to Winchendon the same school that Papa Lo attended.  What is the problem with the recruiting in our own backyard of Massachusetts?  Coach Ford needs to hire a new recruiting staff. You have some guy named Mike Sullivan bird watching 1 & 2 Star recruits in New York, get with the program Coach!
