I can see why voters might be cautious in voting UH onto the Top 25, given that last time they did it the Coogs immediately choked and blew a couple of games. Still, can anyone explain to me how a team that is 10-1 and in the "others receiving votes" section of both the AP and Coaches poll is ranked 77th in the Sportsline RPI rankings? They started the season ranked 283, despite having a very respectable record last year and finishing third in the conference. And what power-house programs are ranked higher this year? How about Maryland-Baltimore County, Santa Barbara, Drake, Winthrop -- these mighty powers of college basketball. And don't tell me "hey, it's a computer system and that's just the way the numbers fall." If your system for ranking teams is this bad, then you need a new system. Your formula, simply put, sucks. If UH wins the next couple of games, including a game against UMass, I bet they go into the Arizona game ranked in AP, likely in coach's poll. Maybe they'll crack the Top 50 in the Sportsline RPI.

I'm still trying to fiure out how a 3 loss Southern Cal team remains in the top 25 when none of the losses are in-conference.  And the Coogs roll on....

I find this hilarious:

My Tulane Green Wave are 8-4 with an RPI of 50.  We have losses to a .500 Buffalo team, and a suprise New Orleans team (they're good this year).

Houston is 10-1 with and RPI of 74.

The reason why:  Houston's sked BLOWS.  The only win worth looking at is Kentucky.   SOS is at 284.  In other words, you better hope the teams you played get better.

Tulane's notched wins over Auburn, Georgia, and St. Johns.  Their SOS is 43.

A team that is 8-4 with an RPI of 50???

Kentucky is not even a win looking at considering that they are at .500 or somewhere very close to it.

Please....you answered your own question.  I am a huge Cougar fan and went to school there in the 80's.....they are going by the ol Aggie schedule and building confidence first.  To be honest, when you sweat out a win against TSU, Ark-Pine, you are what you are.  They are ranked accordingly.  They will crack the the top 25 this week or next if they are not upsetted.  GO COOGS!

I think tom Penders is doing a great job.  I saw a lot of what he did at UT while i was going to school there and the excitement he brought to a basketball program where there was none before.  soon enough he'll  get the team into the tournament and as that happens more and more we'll start to see  stronger SOS. But first he just has to win games to get people notice.

The problem is that Houston has not won on the road. They looked excellent against UMass, who should be a tournament team, despite the loss. I expect this team to be on the bubble at the end of the year. A win against Memphis would do them wonders though. They have the firepower to accomplish this. (moreso than any other CUSA team) There's no way Houston can be in the top 25 with all home wins and their only two away games were both losses. That is why the RPI is not up to snuff. Houston is good- don't get me wrong. But, I don't exactly think they are top 25 at this point in the season. They could be by the end of the year though.

talk about home cookin...wow never seen anything like it, foul after foul after foul on houston. This is pathetic, how can Houston get called for a tiny touch and Memphis gets away with hacking all the way down the court every single play. Houston has been at the free throw line one this whole game. Once? it's the second half with 13:00 mins left?

Snake refs ruin the friggin game, like i said i understand about home favored calls, but this is ridiculous....
