No arguement on the prospects.  Thing is a lot of those players who are a few years away are the positional talent.
The pitching talent (bullpen and starting), you have 10-12 options for the rotation under the age of 27 who are either already up or will be ready by mid/late next 2009.  (that count includes Loe, McCarthy, and Gabbard ... I guess Tejeda too.)
Who will cut it at the big league level and who will flame out or get hurt?  Only time will tell.

The DVD while a good group of prospects, weren't they more of a marketing ploy of showing 'Hey, we actually have pitching in our minors"?
For all we know, every Rangers scout and manager KNEW those guys wouldn't cut it as aces or even #3s and the marketing group was hyping them up just like the Yankees have done to their prospects.

Though I hope a little that I am wrong on Danks, Diamond, and Volquez.
One should never root for someone to fail or get hurt.

83 wins and 3rd in the division sounds about right to me

Mark my words, 92-70.

Josh Hamilton will have a monster year.

Hank Blalock will be like the old Hank from a few years ago.

Murphy is hitting his way into the lineup.

Millwood, Padilla and even Gabbord will bounce back and have much improved seasons with better defense and run production over last year.  Jennings will pitch and probably end up being the #2 or #3 by the end of the year.  McCarthy/Ponson will be effective.

Salty/Laird will give us more production than just Laird along.

Go Rangers...

With the season upon us, I will venture my projections.

I think Millwood will pitch good, not great

Padilla will be better, maybe even good.

Blalock will play much better, with Hamilton, and crew they will hit there way into every game. If they are close come june, they will go out and get a pitcher. I project 84 wins this year. Texas to finish 3rd and next year with Millwood, Kiker a better Mccarthy and Diamond on the hill Texas to win the division in 09 and win it all in 2010

I actually predicted the Rangers to nab the Wild Card. If the starting pitching stays consistent like it did the first two games against the Mariners, and the offense starts to spark with the additions of Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley, and lastly, the emergence of the young talent starts to develop with Jarrod Satalamachia and Jason Botts, I could actually see it happen. It worked for Colorado last year.

A lot of experts have either the Yankees or the 2nd place team from the AL Central (the Tigers or the Indians) winning the Wild Card, but I think differently. I think the Yankees are finally over the hill and won't be able to fend off the competition from the AL East(the Blue Jays and the Rays) and I think the Tigers are HIGHLY OVERRATED. They basically pulled a Yankee/Red Sox move by shelling out an absorbant amount of cash for overrated players.

THAT'S why I think the Rangers have a shot. Sue me.
