Looks like you guys are starting to click.  How are you liking Jeter? Good luck the rest of the way.

I attended UWM during Pearl's stay and for the first two years of Jeter's. I was not excited about Jeter coming in and I still am not happy with him. Pearl and Jeter are night and day; Jeter is too stiff. I noticed it during Jeter's first year when he would not use his weapons they way they were coached to be used; Joah Tucker and Boo Davis both had mediocre years as Jeter tried to force the team to play a style was not familiar to them; that is not a sign of good coaching imo. A good coach should know his teams strengths and weaknesses and play off of them.

Now that most all of Pearls recruits are gone and the team will soon be all Jeter recruits, I think Jeter will see more success. I think Jeter knows X's and O's but I am unsure on his ability to develop players; he will have to rely on recruits that already play his style of game... this will limit the recruiting pool and hurt flexibility.

If UWM doesn't win the conference tourney or make an at-large appearence within 2-3 more years I think Jeter should get the axe. Sure, the panthers made the tourney during Jeter's rookie year as coach, but it was with an utterly underperforming Bruce Pearl team.

Pearl left some big shoes to fill, but going from a coach that was flamboyant and fast paced to a slow paced stiff was a terrible decision.

Are you serious?  They were an utterly underperforming team in Jeter's first season?  They won both the regular season and tournament titles, had 22 wins, dominated the cheater Sampson and Oklahoma in the first round before they ran into the Florida buzzsaw.

You really need to get your facts straight before you make an absurd comment like that.  The biggest issue all UWM fans that don't like Jeter have is that he is not Pearl and he does not run the same offensive system, hence they are not as exciting.  Jeter is a good coach and has done a good job this year when you consider what this team lost before the season started.

Yes I am serious. I went to every single home game and watched the tourney games at the union. The senior players were not comfortable in Jeter's offensive scheme and although the Panthers did well on paper, they did not look good. Tigert, Davis, and Tucker all looked mediocre with Jeter coaching. The Panther's success was entirely based on their experience, not Jeter's coaching. Jeter was unable to work with the talent that he was handed. Hell, Joah Tucker was a preseason top 10 forward and looked absolutely terrible under Jeter's scheme.

As I said, maybe Jeter will do better with his own recruits, but he did not do well with Pearl's recruits. I expect UWM to be a Horizon contender and if Jeter can't do that within another year or two I think he should be out. Five years is plenty of time to make a name for yourself, something Jeter has yet to do.

You are right though; Jeter is not Pearl. Pearl left some huge shoes to fill, but coaches like Pearl have to start somewhere. I don't see Jeter bringing consistent success to UWM and I think the AD should be more than willing to find someone that does. You take a chance with up and coming coaches, the chance doesn't always pay off. It's called the coaching carousel for a reason.
