Yeah, it should be a good one.  I definitely don't think that we're going to come in there thinking it will be a cakewalk, all that keeps being said is how good y'all are at home.  Akron's a good ball club, I went to the MAC championship game last year, thought it didn't turn out favorable for you guys, it was a great game and I definitely saw some talent.  Can't wait to go this one.  Good luck to you.

Eric Maynor, Wil Fameni, Mike Anderson, Jamal Shuler, those are the main guys, Shuler and Maynor are the best of those, then Joey Rodriguez and Larry Sanders who are pretty sick freshmen.  Sanders' arms are unbelievably long and he will just come up with some ridiculous blocks every once in a while.

VCU is a very talented team. It is going to be a tough game for the Zips to win. Especially without Jeramiah Wood their top scorer and rebounder.  It will be interesting to see who will win the 3- point battle. VCU leads their conference in opponent 3 -point % while Akron leads the MAC in 3- point shooting.  The Zips really need to stroke the three well now that their best inside player is out.

I am a VCU alum and a dual fan of Georgetown and the VCU Rams. Definitely don't look at this game as a easy game and actually look at it as the major obstacle ahead of the Rams with four regular season games left. I do feel that if the Rams can somehow run the table and win their final four games giving them 23 wins for the season they should be almost assured of a tourney spot unless of course they get bounced in the first round of the CAA tourney. The ZIPS Rams game will be very pivotal for both programs.

I know I'm a little late on replying to the original post here, but I gotta put my two cents in. This match-up is not what I wanted as a Rams fan. First off, the Zips are 3rd in their conference and currently have an RPI of around #95 so a win there doesn't benefit us much as it would if they beat us. We're sitting at about #65 in all but one RPI rankings system and are first in our conference. Secondly, you're going to be down your best player (Jeremiah Wood) and he's an inside guy. We are number one in the country at defending the three, so if we don't have to worry about an inside threat our guys will be all over that arc. Plus, I hear you guys use a pressure defense, so do we, which negates that as an upper-hand for either team. If it comes to to bench performance, we can go 12 deep when needed, I don't see the Zips going past 9 deep and that's cut to 8 with Wood out.

GOOD LUCK ZIPS, but it's not happening this year for you either. If you couldn't get in the tourney last year with 26 wins and a 2 point loss to #20 Nevada then what does this game really mean to anyone???

well we didnt "catch a beatdown" but we did lose a great game. we just couldnt put the ball in the hole. GREAT defensive battle and i think we played maynor really well. its the other guy that killed us, i cant remember his name right now. maybe scherere or something like that anyway your big men played well especially your freshman. hes a blocking machine and the kid from russia did well also. i think we figured out your perimiter defense but just couldnt seem to put them down. had lots of open looks just didnt go for us today when they normally do. anyway congrats. i hope this win helps you get in to the tourney if you dont win the caa tourney. akron is a good team and a incredibly tough place to play
