I am Not sure why people classify Obama as a Black man. He is as much black as he is white. His dad is black, yet his mom is white. I think they are doing a dissevice to his mom by calling him Black.

What's up, Carolina? You're absolutely right. So why does it still happen? Evolution and indoctrination on homosexuality come to mind.
I better be careful with my "crazy" traditional views, after the stuff I got today on the "dumb democrat" thread today. Very disturbing, but that's another story.
Yeah, you should be careful. We're trying to teach the younger generations not to hate. Get it? Take your traditional views and shove'em. Jesus wouldn't approve.

Now that someone has brought up homosexuality, we will sho-nuff did turn this thread into a hate mill. But sassy's post was amusing, to the point of making me laugh. I don't do much of that lately.
I did clip this post by wellnd and wanted to respond:
Some states are still fighting the Civil War. Some Midwestern states like Indiana probably continue to harbor the KKK. South of the Mason Dixon line in Maryland you feel the Southern loyalty.
There isn't much KKK activity in Indiana now but there are some scattered morons running around over by Elkhart.. The Klan has no political or social clout at all.
More than anything, there is a fairly strong evangelical religious right that plays pretty heavy into political financing. Indiana is not a very cosmopolitan state and Obama will be hard-pressed to win. In the central part, that's heavily Republican and weighted toward GOP-Bush money. Unless they hop over and vote Democrat for Obama, he won't have a chance here.
If he loses PA and Indiana, it goes to the convention floor.
That will get interesting.

Yeah, jonU, it has always been real interesting that the neocons want Christian prayer in public school. They hate (I know they say they don't "hate", but prejudice is a result of hate) homosexuals and don't want teachers teaching tolerance in school. Well, nobody has ever been or never will be as tolerant as good ol' JC. Any neocon that tries to us JC as reason for their intolerance is just asking for it. And if any of you care to go at it with me on this, you should know I, unlike many neocons I know, have actually read the Bible. Actually even studied it.

socialism is redestributing wealth from those who earn it to those who dont by government control via income taxes, social programs, overtaxing busineses- it has never worked- see russia, japan and even china is becoming more capitalistic- Obama is a socialist even if isnt running as one based on his extreme views on taxes, anti -business and national control of health care

I know, for one, I don't intend to see ANY of MY PERSONAL MONEY go to schools, highways, bridges, (the national) defense or any of those other socialistic programs that have turned us into a crap-a&& second rate third-world country.
Nope, I am going to be GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY with MY money.
Not one damned dime for de gate or de fence either.
Lucky we caught ourselves in time before we elected that socialist marxist, Leninist, commie pinko Obaminik.

I suppose I could adapt an entire thread for my personal beliefs on what ought to be taught in school in regard to homosexuality.
Tolerance of others is one thing, provided we understand that those who are intolerant are less likely to deserve our tolerance in return. How that works is a matter of jurisprudence.
But the topic of homosexuality is probably not one to be taught in school for two reasons:
1. Most kids that age don't know anything about it unless they have someone in their family who is. Then they already know more about it than they will probably learn in school.
2. If you ain't one, like me, then you can't evaluate it other than to just say "some folks dance to a different drummer." If that is all you can teach, you'd as well just not even talk about it.
School kids who go around saying they are "gay" are probably not even sure what it means, unless they know. It's doubtful they do.
So, leave school for teaching kids about history, math, reading, economics, geography and (ahem, pickem) English. Yeah, English.
Enforcing tolerance in a curriculum is no different IMHO than teaching religion.
It's a way of demanding that kids believe a certain way, no different from legislated patriotism. Salute the flag, or else?
