WOW, EVEN TORONTO FANS HATE TORONTO

I heard Sundin is just going year to year because he considers retirement every year and that he would sign with the leafs if he signs with anyone. It was Fletcher that gaurenteed the face of the club would change next year.

McCabe was the guy no one wanted, seemed like they had offeres for everyone else.

Funny thing is, I think McCabe just might have the most talent out of all of them.  Sometimes I wonder what would happen if you paired him up with a lidstrom or a niedermayer, give him some confidence... let him do his thing without being afraid of making a mistake...

As much as I dog the leaf fans, I have to say mccabe might be the exception.. there is a reason he was paid that much and a reason other teams showed interest prior to that...but we won't know for a while..

When McCabe was hurt the leafs were abysmal, now that he is back they are winning some games. He does make mistakes, but for some reason the team suffers when he is absent more than they suffer from another absence.  The problem with McCabe is that he is making a couple of million too many dollars, but that was not his mistake.

I read a story somewhere today ( trying to remember where on the web it was now)  but in the history of no trade clauses, it has NEVER HAPPENED where not even 1 player out of 5 on a team chose to void their no trade clause.  

Is toronto a great hockey city ? ok, maybe it is. But what I find abnoxious about toronto fans is that they really believe that these players didn't leave because of their "love for toronto". Don't be stupid guys !!!  Sure, one or 2, maybe. But not all 5.....  What all 5 DID DO is get together and discuss this previously, that's for sure.. and don't think for a second that it's not possible they were trying to screw the management they hate...

McCabe practically told you that  the problem is you guys don't listen.  Did you not see the interview where he was asked if you would waive it and he answered, bluntly and arrogantly with " maybe I gave them a small window to work with but I doubt it"

And no, I don't believe for a minute that NOT EVEN ONE of those guys wants to win.. NOT EVEN ONE would like to play in a warmer climate, nicer place.... don't get me wrong, I actually like the city of toronto, I visit very frequently actually,,,, but I don't know if had millions I wouldn't want to be warm those 8 months of the year if I had a choice..

And don't tell me they want to win in toronto.. none of those players will be alive to see a stanley cup final in toronto much less play in one....

I'm a leaf fan and i've never said that nor has that even crossed my mind. Look, i don't care for scrubs who hate the leafs or talk trash about them, stop generalizing the leaf nation off of every little thing you hear from other leafs fans. We don't all think the same, that's  plain ignorance, and if you actually believe we do then you're an idiot!

The only reason I talk down about the leafs is because I feel ripped off. I Have payed full price for over 60 games, bought shirts for 320$ that I cannot wear and all I expect is that they try hard and give us a little bit of hope. The last time I thought that the leafs had a chance at the cup was 1993. That is a long time to be a fan and not getting anything back. I think people have the right to knock this team.

As for people coming here because they like it? It is hard to find evidence of that, name one player who the leafs have signed under the amount of money that they would make elsewhere. The New England Patroits is a team that players play for because they want to be there, this is proven by the salaries they accept. Players want to be in Anaheim, Montreal and Detroit right now. I do not think that it has anything to do with the city but rather much more to do with the direction the team is going in and the prospects for success.

New Jersey is another team that players have historically wanted to play for.

I think Toronto is an exciting hockey city when the Leafs are winning. If  the Toronto Leafs remain in the bottom 4 or 5 the  next 3 or 4 years, then they have  the opportunity for consecutive lottery picks.  

 Change isn’t going to result from a quick fix in today’s NHL. . Drafting high and being a bottom feeder for a few years isn’t exactly the worst plan, just look at how some other teams are improving with good young talent they got through drafts rather than trades. Maybe Making a team better doesn’t take as long as it once did, but trades are also more difficult to sort out everyone needs to relax and consider the fact that while the Leafs are not great at the moment their day is hopefully coming.

I hear what you're saying Hailmary64, it's understandable to knock the team, we all do it at some point and time, but why knock all leafs fans? they don't know me.
