I know its only halftime but 47-22.  And I know its only SMU, but 47-22.  Wow, didnt see that coming.  Cory Farmar and Sam Hinnant are ON FIRE from 3 each with four inthe first half.

I've said it before, they need to be shooting threes all game long, it will open up the inside game or you'll ge tthe long rebounds.  Jenkins has 9 assists at half.

OK, I swear it was like there was a real team out there tonight, 5 guys in double figures, holding the other team to under 40% from the field.

Bring on Houston.  Probably the best team since Clemson to come to Greenville.

Ok, so I'm apparantly the only one on the BBall board, they beat Houston, which I didnt expect, which puts the team at 4-4 at home in conference, if only we had beaten Lee University.

If Coach Mac beats Rice on the road, I'm on board for keeping him, 5 conference wins will do it for me.  I assume TH has a plan for this and it wasnt a wait and see type thing.  I would expect that TH could bring in a big name coach, but I was proved wrong before on that front when the previous more experienced coach was fired and replaced by a significantly less experienced coach. (And no Im not talking about Steve Logan, but if the shoe fits)

However, I am concerned by the lack of recruits I'm seeing and some of the losses I saw, like the one referenced above with an fairly experienced team.  I like Mac more than his predecessor, because at least he knows what he is doing, however, ECU basketball is 250 in the RPI and should be more like 150 considering TH is the AD.

So I guess for this one BBall fan, it'll be a wait and see.

I'll keep this one going until we see some more response.

Nice win over Rice, this team seems to be playing more to their capabilities, finally.

When you think about it, they have a senior point guard, two or three three point shooters and two long guys inside, they should have been winning their fair share.  I think Brock Young should be a good replacement for Darrell Jenkins so I expect more improvement next year with Blair and Fields maturing.

Next year could be a .500 conference team if Young develops as expected, Fields and Blair continue to develop and Hinnant and Legan are shooting threes.  I'd really like to see a big recruit come in though, an eastern north carolina player that stays home.

Well, the Pirates put up a good fight against Tulane losing iwth two free throws with four seconds left.  I think I'll keep this blog type thread going withe the tourney game.

Maybe we can win a tourney game for the first time.

All right, here it is the final post of this now-blog type thread.

Im watching the Pirates go down again in the conference tourney, this year its to Tulsa.  It again appears that the bigs need to grow up, Fields, Blair, and Wynn.  Maybe having Gagnon gone will help, I dont know.  But this team has pieces and next year Legan and Hinnant will be seniors and Brock will run the show.  Maybe just playing together is what they need to do.

How about these lines against Tulsa in the tourney game:

Fields 2-10 shooting, 4-9 FT, 5Reb, 3TO, 3 Block, 4PF.

Hinnant 0-6 shooting, 0-5 threes, 0 points.

This is our problem, such inconsistency, these guys just have to get better night in and night out.  We cant win with players having games like this.

I'm not sure the coach can do much, this group just needs to get better and more consistent,  however it would be nice to add a talented player or two to the mix.
