Over the past couple of seasons I wanted to see the Sixers miss the playoffs in order to get a good draft pick. But now that there is a solid core to this team it is best for them to make the playoffs even if they were to take on Boston and get swept.

This team needs to experience the pressure and some of the younger players need the experience for the future. This is a great opportunity for the Sixers and Mo Cheeks.

I AGREE.....The road post Iverson hasn't been that bad (they're way better than my Knicks)...They have a decent young core that does need some playoff experience...I also think they should bring in a quality veteran...They're definitely heading in the right direction....Next year I can see them as one of the better east teams if they just pick up a couple pieces (I've also heard they're like 11 million under the salary cap).

EXACTLY RIGHT.   We don't need another pick @ 10-13.  We need to get williams, young, carney, green and iguodala playoff experience (of which all have none or virtually none)  at this point if we are going to become contenders in the future.

Also a three point shooter would be nice.....getting out shot in 3's by 8 a game is consistently the difference between us being in a game and not.  (Maybe a guy like Kyle Korver lol  jk i'd love him back but as long as we use the needed cap space to fill other voids maybe get a solid scoring big man than that trade was worth it).

Unless we get a top 5 pick, which is highly unlikely, it's time for this young team to get some playoff experience.  Bring some excitement back to the fans and hope to hit on the free agent market.  The future is looking up finally.  Lets hope it continues to rise.

I like the chemistry on this club right now. Beating Orlando and Dallas is a tremendous confidence booster for the playoffs, and, being $10M under the cap bodes well in getting a top flight addition to this team. Go Sixers!

I agree.  Winning brings about confidence and experience that you just can't get from a high draft pick.  Plus, with their available cap space next year it will be much easier to get a big time free agent to sign here knowing that they may be the missing piece.  I would love to see them sign Josh Smith from the Hawks to play power forward.

Also, don't be surprised if the Sixers do make the playoffs that Giricek gets some minutes to give them that 3-point threat.  He'll be well rested and hopefully ready to knock down big shots.

I can't believe this team is getting praise, there scedule has been cake in the last couple weeks. If they played in the West they would be a 15 win team, if that. Miller is the only player who is a real NBA starter, maybe add Iggy to that list. But thats it, the rest of this team are bench players. Other teams don't view them as threats and therefore aren't up to play them. They have no stars to fuel the need to compete and play to empty stadiums. I guess its nice to have dreams, the top 10-12 teams in the west would smoke this team. This article is just another attempt to make AI look bad, as if the team is better without him. AI had to play with Kevin Ollie as his point guard, a guy that is a DNP every night now. The Sixers put crap around AI for years, he never played with one all-star (that was there for an entire season). I can't wait till the Nuggets crush these hacks. They won't make the play-offs, and even if they sneak in, what a great series it would be to see them play either Boston or Detriot- thats like a pickup game for those teams. The Sixers are like every other team in Philly and the media and fans get what they deserve, why, because they run every star player out of town. Doesn't matter the sport or the year, its gone on since I started following the teams with the Barkley trade. This city HATES star players, because the media convinces everyone that star players provide no value. You end up with year after year of not winning anything. No champs in any sports. They will run McNabb out next, the list is long but here are just a few of the names run out of town, instead of building around these stars they instead got no name, boring second string players-- Barkley, AI, Ricky Watters, Randell Cuningham, Lindros, JD Drew, D Coleman, Scott Rolen, Terrel Owens. Like I said the list is longer- and the fans don't understand why they don't win. Sadder is to look at the players they got in return for these stars.

Fox....
If they played in the West they would be a 15 win team,The 76ers would have somewhere between 17-22 wins if they played in the West, depending on divisions, schedule, etc. BUT its not about playing in the west because they play in the East therefore its a non-issue.
AI had to play with Kevin Ollie as his point guard, a guy that is a DNP every night now. The Sixers put crap around AI for years, he never played with one all-star (that was there for an entire season).Kevin Ollie? I dont know if Ollie has even started 5 games in his whole career...You're thinking of Eric Snow, who was a decent player, but he was no all-star. During the year we went to the finals, we had the NBA leader in rebounds (Mutombo), blocks (Ratliff), the defensive player of the year, and the sixth man of the year (besides AI's stats/award). While only Mutombo would be worthy of an allstar game, we certainly provided some good players for the year (but AI's great performance didnt hurt). Although we brought in Mutombo, Webber, they weren't in their prime they were still certainly good players, with Mutombo being an all-star.
This city HATES star players, because the media convinces everyone that star players provide no value....Sadder is to look at the players they got in return for these stars. You're right I hate star players...I mean I completely despise Ryan Howard and J-Roll and dont even get me started on how badly I want Brian Westbrook out of town. Not to mention the stars we hated before I was born, like: Dr J, Moses Malone, Wilt, etc. Look the fans he (I speak for most(?) of us when I say that we love star players....and with McNabb, the people here have just become spoiled with his great play and dont realize what he really brings to the game.

Come on, this is a good young team that plays really exciting basketball, and they have a real good shot at the playoffs.
