Maybe we still have a shot at an at-large bid. I know it is probably wishfull thinking , but maybe people are starting to understand that the Sunbelt is worthy of two teams this year. Somehow we received votes in the AP Poll even after a loss last week. Nonetheless, we will beat USA in the finals and move on to the dance. I think it will be hard for USA to beat us 3 times in a season. We will have a week to ponder before we start the Sun Belt Tourney. Go TOPS!!!
Good call on takin So. Bama in the tourney as I think that's exactly how it's going to pan out for you guys. Each and every time you've played them it was pretty much down to the wire. Last time they came over to Diddle I heard about plenty of questionable calls going there way. Hopefully you can get some in Mobile!
I think Western should get it, but I don't think they are going to (unless they win the conference tournament....obviously). I just don't think that the Sun Belt will get the respect of other conferences. I know that they played Gonzaga and Tennessee tough, but these people only understand wins and losses.
I don't really understand why Western Kentucky would get an at large bid...shouldn't you atleast have to beat a team that is going to the tournament to even be considered for an at large bid? Western Kentucky hasn't really beaten anyone this year that would suggest they are a good team.
That is a good point hawk. I never really considered that before, however, I have considered that UK is mentioned for a bid and they lost to GWebb, SD, and by 41 to VANDY. We have played the same quality teams as UK only we didn't get killed. They beat UT at Rupp and we only lost by 6 at a neutral sight. They lost at home to GWebb by 18 and we lost to Northern Ariz. by 3 on the road. If you compare records I think WKU has a much better reason for a bid than a team like UK.
Perhaps it's obvious I am anti-UK, but I really feel that if they make the tourney it is because they have a big blue KENTUCKY across their chest. I know there are much better teams (besides WKU) than UK that would love to be in the tourney, but they will get the bid b/c they are UK.
I think we just have to win the tourney and be done with it. If we don't win the tourney...I hope we get to see UK in the first round of the NIT at Diddle and we will show everyone that WKU is the second best team in the state of KY.
Yeah I agree that Kentucky has a lot more bad losses than the TOPS but at least they have actually beaten someone. Kentucky beat Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, and Mississippi. The fact that most of Kentucky's bad losses came very early in the season combined with the fact that Western Kentucky has not beaten a single team that is even on the same level as any of these teams that Kentucky beat makes Kentucky seem a lot more impressive to me. I'm not saying the KENTUCKY across their chest hurts but if they get a bid over WKU its because they have proven they can beat someone other than Arkansas St.
Very Cool Blue Raider!!! I have always considered MTSU a rival, however, in a good way. It's close to BG and I think it will become the biggest rival in the SBC soon, both football and bball. Congrats on beating USA! and thank you.
